What is an Eligible educational institution?

An eligible educational institution is a college, university, vocational school, or other postsecondary institution that is accredited and able to participate in federal student aid programs. Tuition and required costs paid to such a school may qualify for tax-favored education benefits, including assistance provided by an employer under a written Qualified education assistance program (QEAP). Most degree-granting colleges and many vocational schools meet the standard, and confirming a school's status is a routine first step before paying or excluding education benefits.
